ANDREA
Andrea Grossi-Benitez is a first generation, Venezuelan-Italian multi-hyphenate, born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Her creative work explores themes of the occult, womanhood, queerness, and her multicultural backgrounds. She is presently bicoastal, based out of New York City & Los Angeles.
From the age of 14, Andrea has performed internationally as a backup vocalist with the blues-rock band Supersonic Blues Machine, collaborating with music legends such as Billy F. Gibbons (ZZ Top), Eric Gales, and Joe Louis Walker on stages across India, Russia, Italy, Scandinavia, and the UK. She is currently in pre-production of her original music.
She’s a graduate of Circle in the Square Theatre School’s Musical Theatre Performance program, having previously studied in North Hollywood at The Young Actor’s Studio. Andrea has starred in productions like Macbeth (Dot in the Box), the queer Shakespeare remix R+Jules (Fabled Narcissism), and Missed Disconnections (Murmuration Theatre Co.).
A lover of collaboration and community, Andrea also works behind the scenes— such as assisting in productions, such as the Tracy Letts Festival (Animus Theatre Co.), directing cabarets like 54 Sings Chappell Roan at 54 Below, and developing original work, including her upcoming play: Saudade or The Pleasure You Suffer. She is currently in post-production of her self-written/directed/starred short Welcome Home Doll.
You can catch her at open mics trying out new standup material throughout the city. Or writing in a coffee shop near you. Or possibly helping out her friends with their own creative endeavors. Tell the girl to sit still.
She’s doing it all for her.
